Services for Bay Area Regional Campus Students
If you attend classes in Pleasanton, Sacramento, San Jose, or Santa Rosa, these individualized services are for you.
If you have any questions about using the library, feel free to call or drop in for help. The Librarian or Library Assistant is available to help you with searching, reference, and information questions. You are also welcome to use the Gleeson Library/Geschke Center’s Ask A Librarian service at any time 24/7.
Classroom orientations and instruction sessions
During the first weeks of class, a Library orientation session on basic resources and services is recommended for all new cohorts. Throughout the year, classroom instruction in research methods is also available. A Library Staff member will visit your classroom to demonstrate the most relevant online resources and strategies, and focus on helping students with research for their course assignments.
Individual research appointments
Information resources change constantly. To help you stay up to date, Library Staff members offer one on one or small group training sessions. These sessions can be general (How can I get full-text articles from the library’s databases?) or specific (I need information on this particular topic). Individual sessions can be held on a drop-in basis or by appointment.
To schedule an orientation or instruction session, contact the Regional Campus Library Staff, either in person, by phone, or by email. A week’s notice is preferred.
Printing & Copying
Xerox Multifunction Printers
Please try to minimize printing. As a Jesuit and Catholic University, we have the responsibility to provide leadership in developing a more sustainable way of living (USF Green Team Mission Statement). Students are encouraged to use the Xerox multifunction printer (MFP) at each campus for black & white and color printing, copying, scanning, and faxing. These printers also print double-sided and allow for collating and stapling of multiple copies. For more information on using the MFP, see the Student MFP Self-Help Page
Use your USF ID card (One Card) or type your MyUSF username and password to login. Printing and copying is $.06 B&W or $.30 color/per page. Add Dons Dollar funds to your account online by credit card.
Regional Campus Library Printers
Each Regional Campus Library has standalone laser printers for free printing of a small amount of online research and a reasonable number of drafts and assigned papers.
If you need to print a large document, use the Xerox printer or make arrangements with the Regional Campus Library Staff for a time when the library is not busy.
The Regional Campus Library printers may not be used to print:
- multiple copies of any document,
- PowerPoint presentations with fewer than 3 slides per page,
- pages with dark backgrounds.
There are wired workstations in each Regional Campus Library and wireless access throughout each Regional Campus. The Regional Campus Library computers are available on a first-come basis for class-related work. Priority is given to the currently enrolled students and teaching faculty at each campus. These computers are equipped with the USF standard software suite for the Windows operating system, plus Photoshop Elements and SPSS.

Each Regional Campus Library has a small onsite collection of books, videos, and magazines relevant to the current programming. These are listed in Ignacio, the USF online library catalog. Using “Limit by Location” narrows a search to a particular campus.
Regional Campus Libraries: Books from the Regional Campus Libraries’ collections circulate exclusively to currently enrolled students and teaching faculty at each campus. Regional Campus Library circulating books may be taken out for two weeks and renewed once for an additional two weeks. Reference and Reserve books do not circulate and are used on campus only.
USF Library and other libraries: Books from the USF Gleeson Library/Geschke Center, the Link+ library consortium, and the ILLiad interlibrary loan service have varying loan rules. All these books are available for free delivery and return, using a prepaid UPS return mailing label and the original packaging, through the Document Delivery service. Please be aware the Regional Campus Libraries are unable to accept any returns for the USF Gleeson Library/Geschke Center.
Ebooks: In addition to print books, the USF Library collects a wide variety of ebooks that may be read from a computer or mobile device. For more information on how to use these resources, see Using ebrary ebooks and Using EBSCO ebooks.
Regional Campus Libraries: Regional Campus campus videos do not circulate to students but may be viewed in a Regional Campus Library.
USF Library and other libraries: You may also request videos from the USF Gleeson Library/Geschke Center, Link+, and the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan service using Document Delivery.
Streaming collections: The USF Library has extensive high quality streaming video collections on a wide range of subjects.
A small collection of journals and magazines is available at most Regional Campus Libraries.
Reserve Course Material:
Faculty may place books, articles, or videos on reserve in the Regional Campus Libraries for student use. Present a valid USF ID card to borrow course reserves material.
Fines, Fees, and Replacement Charges:
Borrowers are responsible for returning materials on time and for paying replacement fees for lost items. See Fines, Fees, and Replacement Charges for more details.
The Regional Campus Libraries are part of USF’s Gleeson Library | Geschke Center. Priority is given to currently enrolled students and teaching faculty at each campus. Faculty and students from other USF campuses and USF Alumni may use the Regional Campus Libraries at the discretion of the Regional Campus Library Staff. Please call or email the Librarian in advance to find out the best times to visit or get help. If you have particular ADA-related needs, please inform the Library Staff. They will work closely with Student Disability Services to determine appropriate accommodations.
Additional USF Student Support Services
Faculty Writing Consultants are available at each Regional Campus a few hours a week to provide individualized feedback on students' writing in all disciplines. For more help with improving writing skills, see the services provided by the USF Writing Center.
