Annotated Bibliography of Antisemitism
The Annotated Bibliography of Antisemitism is one of three databases comprising the Felix Posen Bibliographic Project on Antisemitism, maintained by the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism (http://sicsa.huji.ac.il/) at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In addition to the Annotated Bibliography, the project includes a retrospective bibliography, which lists books and articles, published prior to 1984 (presently includes works published from 1965-1983), and the database, "'The Jewish Question'" in German-Speaking Countries, 1848-1914", that documents Jewish life and thought in Germany, Austria-Hungary and Switzerland, and the relations of these countries with the Jews living in their midst, in the years 1848-1914. In total, the databases list abstracts for around 30,000 books, book chapters, journal articles, and dissertations. The long-term goal of the project is to compile a comprehensive listing of all works written about antisemitism throughout history. For the purpose of this project, antisemitism is defined as antagonism toward Jews and Judaism as expressed in writings (e.g., the New Testament, polemical literature, works of fiction), in the visual arts (e.g., art, caricatures, films), and in actions (e.g., massacres and pogroms, discriminatory legislation, the Holocaust).
