Alumni Panelists Reflect on Careers in Entertainment Law
USF School of Law hosted the Careers in Entertainment Law Alumni Panel and Reception on Nov. 1 at SAG-AFTRA in Los Angeles. The event was one of several alumni events held across the country this fall.
The panel was moderated by Andrea Brizuela '13, an intellectual property attorney at NBCUniversal Media, LLC, and panelists included Barbara Quinn '96, vice president, intellectual property at Sony Pictures Entertainment; Nikkole Denson-Randolph '95, vice president, special and alternative content at AMC Theatres; Iris Kokish '15, counsel at SAG-AFTRA; and Joshua P. Binder '01, partner at the Beverly Hills office of Davis Shapiro Lewit who was named a Billboard 2017 Top Music Industry Lawyer.
Panelists discussed their unique careers within the entertainment law space and shared advice about following your passion and being open to new opportunities. They also reflected on how their USF School of Law education prepared them for their careers.
“It was inspiring to hear how our talented alumni have leveraged their IP, business, labor, and employment law knowledge into different but incredible careers connected to the entertainment industry in Los Angeles,” said Michelle Sklar, assistant dean for development and alumni relations. “Events like this one provide a forum for our alumni to reconnect and network, while hearing about the latest trends in a particular practice area. There were many business cards and phone numbers exchanged so we know the engagement among Los Angeles alumni will continue long after this event is over.”
