First-Year Class Schedule
Recent modifications to the first year curriculum have reduced the course load. The requirement of four courses (reduced from five) each semester for full time students and three courses (reduced from four) for part time students enables students to focus on fewer subjects more deeply and provides more study/ preparation time in the first year.
First Year Class Schedule: The first year curriculum consists primarily of required classes in a pre-determined schedule. Individual student schedules and book lists will be available in early August. Required first year classes with days/times listed will be posted on our web site in early August at: www.usfca.edu/law

Full time day students are randomly assigned to one of two day sections of approximately 70 students each section. Full time day students will be enrolled in 4 courses a semester (14 units), held Monday through Friday. Three days a week, students typically attend two classes, one in the morning and another in the afternoon; on the remaining two days, they typically attend one class.
The part time evening section is comprised of approximately 20-30 students who enroll in 3 courses each semester of their first year. These classes begin at
6:30 p.m. and meet four nights a week, Monday through Thursday. In the first
semester, two class sessions meet 2 hours, 15 minutes, and two
class sessions meet for 3 hours each week. In the spring semester, all
classes meet for 3 hours with four Thursday dates (tba) on which no classes are
Voluntary one hour Law Plus sessions (general academic support) are also
scheduled for both the day and evening sections of first year students.
These sessions will be held on dates tba during the academic year, with the
