Adjunct Professor Kevin Ryan is a widely respected trial attorney, judge, advisor, and manager with more than 20 years experience addressing criminal, civil, and administrative matters. He serves as director and deputy chief of staff of Mayor Newsom's Office of Criminal Justice. He previously worked as a litigation partner for Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis in San Francisco. From 1999 to 2002 he served as a judge for the Superior Court of the State of California in San Francisco County. In 2002, he was presidentially appointed a United States Attorney for the Northern District of California. Ryan is a member of USF's Trial Advocacy Program and participates as a judge in annual moot court competitions. He has taught topics relating to criminal law to judges at the California Center for Judicial Education and Research and is a frequent public speaker and panelist on white collar prosecutions. Ryan was named a Northern California Super Lawyer in 2006 and 2007, one of the Daily Journal's "Top 100 Lawyers of California" in 2006, and one of the Irish America magazine's "Top 100 Laywers" in 2007 and 2008.
