Biography

Julia R. Wilson is the executive director of OneJustice. She is responsible for leading OneJustice’s statewide network of 100+ nonprofit legal organizations, law firms, law schools, and businesses that together provide life-changing legal assistance to over 270,000 low-income Californians each year. In addition to her executive responsibilities at OneJustice, Julia serves as a senior trainer and facilitator in OneJustice’s Healthy Nonprofits Program, providing support to the executives and boards of the legal nonprofit organizations in OneJustice’s network.  Julia is also the faculty member on board governance and revenue models/fundraising in OneJustice’s Executive Fellowship, a 10-month program on nonprofit management for legal services leaders. In recognition of her work supporting California’s nonprofit legal organizations, Julia has been named as one of California’s Top 100 Attorneys In 2012 by the Daily Journal and a California Lawyer of the Year by California Lawyer magazine in 2010. Her support for and shared leadership with OneJustice’s own Board of Directors resulted in OneJustice receiving the 2013 BoardSource Prudential Leadership Awards for Exceptional Nonprofit Boards. Julia graduated summa cum laude from UC Los Angeles and with distinction from Stanford University Law School. Before her work with OneJustice, Julia spent almost seven years at the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County, first receiving a national Equal Justice Works (then NAPIL) Fellowship to create her own direct legal services project. Julia serves the Resources Subcommittee of the National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA), the State Bar of California’s Pro Bono Coordinating Committee, and is active in numerous statewide collaborations relevant to OneJustice’s work.
