Biography

John Orta currently serves as the general counsel and corporate secretary at Metromile, the pay-per-mile insurance start-up that was recently named one of five startups to watch in 2017 by Forbes, and ranked #6 on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list. Prior to Metromile, John was SVP and general counsel at OpenTable, the world’s leading provider of online restaurant reservations. At OpenTable, he guided the company through its IPO in 2009 and subsequent sale to The Priceline Group in 2014. John received an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, a JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law, and a BA in Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. John was also the recipient of the GC Impact Award in 2014. John currently lives in Piedmont, California, with his wife, Gigi, and their three children, Sam, Lily, and Macy.
