Biography

Adjunct Professor Deborah Wald is the founder of the Wald Law Group, a boutique family law firm whose practice areas include adoption, guardianship, assisted reproduction, parentage and custody. She speaks regularly on contemporary family issues and participates in numerous professional organizations, including the National Family Law Advisory Council for the National Center for Lesbian Rights; the Association of Family & Conciliation Courts (AFCC); the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association; and the Academy of California Adoption/Assisted Reproduction Lawyers. She is certified as a Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. Wald previously practiced both criminal defense and immigration law, and she has used those skills over the past few years to obtain Special Immigrant Juvenile Status for undocumented children, both through her private practice and as a volunteer attorney for Kids In Need of Defense (KIND).
