Hey everybody. I'm Auna and I'm your host every Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m.
Flip is from the Bay Area. He has been happily DJing with KUSF since Fall 2014. He is a devout of Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart, as well as a rabid metalhead. Hobbies include reading, stroking his beard, hiking, assessing what beer he ought to drink, and generally losing his mind. Note: Flip thinks he is a Viking. In the event of him going berserk, simply play Goat's newest album and he will calm down (somewhat). But please don't tell him I said any of this.
The Ghost Host, who has been known to morph into different creatures —such as the Black Cat, the Ballroom Ghost, the Raven, the Spanish Professor, the Aging Man or the Egyptian Lady, to name a few—, lives in the Haunted House (La casa encantada). There he hears voices from the past speaking in tongues. He discovered a treasure of old records with moldy dusty grooves hidden in a crypt and covered by cobwebs, which is what you will hear at the House. Beware of bizarre spells in chants from all around the world, bewitching songs with such absurd names as rumbas, cumbias, mambos, guarachas, soukous, bulerías, bombas, guajiras, plenas, fox-trots, hot dances, hulas, tamures, ragas, and many many more.
This is DJ Gildo bringing some pleasure to your Tuesday afternoons. I mainly play punk-rock, low-fi, garage fuzziness, stoner-rock, and some new-wave jargon sprinkled on top. My playlists compliment morning showers, eating cereal, flossing, and getting dressed. Waking up is hardcore, so get out of that bed and tune in! P.S. Check out this band called Dinosaurs @ https://dinosaurs-sf.bandcamp.com/
Hannah plays everything from the blues to 60s rock to reggae to 70s punk to 80s new wave to contemporary artists. A listener has once described Hannah as "if the DJs from American Graffiti and Reservoir Dogs had a baby... that's this chick." So make sure to tune in to Left of the Dial!
I may have an aversion to animal products but not to music. This is Crystal Vega, your friendly neighborhood vegan DJ, here to bring you some amazing morning music! Let me play you some R&B to get your soul singing, some pop music to get your heart pumping, and some jazz music to get your feet tapping. Whether you prefer half-and-half or soy creamer, tune it to KUSF.org and listen to DJ Non-Dairy Dreamer.
Tune in for heavy, mostly underground music: black metal, noise, sludge, industrial, post-metal. It can be pretty, if you turn it up loud. Except when it's not pretty at all. But don't turn it back down! Paris is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Environmental Studies at USF since 2001. A best part of his youth was mis-spent at New York's Ritz Theater and CBGB's in the First Golden Age of Metal and Hardcore, where he saw bands like Slayer, Bad Brains, Butthole Surfers, Cro-Mags, Corrosion of Conformity, and Motorhead. Some of his current favorite bands include Neurosis, Agalloch, Deafheaven, Boris, Godflesh, Wolves in the Throne Room, Eyehategod, and Harvey Milk.
