John BansavichJohn Bansavich, ED.D.
Director of the Center for Instruction and Technology

John has been with USF since 1997 as the faculty/staff educational technology coordinator, CIT lab manager, and an advocate for teaching and learning with technology. John has taught Web design and multimedia classes in the Computer Science department at USF, the Master's In Digital Media and Learning. He is passionate about working with educators and students at all levels of their comprehension and appreciation of technology.

John has been involved in a variety of technology integration projects since 1990. An early adopter of online learning at USF, he has worked closely with faculty on their online and in-class strategies for teaching with technology. Since becoming the Director of the CIT in 2001, he has been working on the renovation of the CIT as a faculty and staff resource center where technology skills can be observed, modeled, and acquired.

Researching the impact of the iPad and other mobile technologies on teaching and learning in higher education.

Greg CrumGregory Crum
Online Instructional Designer

Greg Crum comes to the CIT after six years of working at the California Maritime Academy as the Coordinator of Instructional Technology. His expertise is leveraging learning management systems for teaching and learning. Greg will be leading the effort to support and train faculty and staff in the use of the Canvas learning management system.

"Hi My name is Greg Crum. I am very excited to begin my journey here at USF as the Online Instructional Designer supporting Canvas. I come the CIT after working 7 years at the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo as the Coordinator of Instructional Technology. Previous to my time at Cal Maritime, I was the Technology Coordinator at Corpus Christi, a K-8 catholic school in Piedmont CA. My passion is helping people at all technical levels engage technology in productive and meaningful ways. I've lived in Northern California all my life, growing up in Oakland and attending school at U.C. Davis and USF.  I currently live in Oakland with my wife and two children. My interests include rooting for the Golden State Warriors and listening to obscure 80's music!"

Instructional Designer

Xavier's area of expertise is instructional design for online learning environments. Xavier comes to the CIT with 8 years of experience designing instruction for both public and private sector organizations. Currently, Xavier is working with instructors to develop their courses for online Master's programs at USF.

Eileen Lai
Web Designer

Eileen joined CIT in 2002 after completing eight years of service at the School of Business. Her area of expertise is web design. She teaches various web authoring tools to faculty and staff with the goal of enhancing teaching and learning experience through the use of computer technology. She also provides lead support to the Director of CIT on different projects.

Angie PortacioAngie Portacio
Instructional Designer for Special Projects
Angie will be working closely with Greg to assist in the migration of courses from Blackboard to Canvas and support faculty with this process. Angie comes from San Francisco State University with many years of experience as an instructional designer and graphic designer. She has a broad spectrum of experience that will assist faculty integrate technology in their courses emphasizing on course design, student engagement, and assessment. She will assist faculty in the transition from Blackboard to Canvas, and other projects.

Ken joined CIT in 2007 after serving 6 years at the ITS Help Desk. His driving philosophy is to "provide a human face to technology" at CIT.  His experiences in troubleshooting issues ranging from basic application usage to multimedia will be taken a step further in working with the USF community in the use of technology as an effective tool in the classroom.  At the CIT, Ken looks to provide a positive and encouraging training atmosphere for users at all skill levels.
