Karla Penilla Lozano ’21
Meet Karla Penilla Lozano, a graduate nursing student, working towards a future career in pediatrics.
Why did you choose to attend USF?
USF upholds the values of a Jesuit education and the mission to respond to the needs of underserved communities. As a future nurse and health professional, I hope to expand the Jesuit values that my education at USF has instilled in me. USF has cultivated my passion for service, and I want to make the most of my education, my clinical experiences, and theory classes to better serve communities in need.
Where do you see yourself after graduation?
I see myself completing a nurse residency program in pediatrics. My dream is to specialize in pediatrics. This has been the majority of my work and internships. I have formed meaningful connections with children and their families at the hospital and I see myself continuing this passion of mine. I also want to continue with my education after gaining experience as a nurse. I want to complete a nurse practitioner or CRNA degree.
Gifts to USF, like Karla’s scholarship, were made in support of Changing the World from Here, Campaign for the University of San Francisco. Scholarships make education possible. Support students like Karla »
