Pradip Swarnakar is an associate professor of sociology at the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior and a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of San Francisco.

Professor Swarnakar’s research areas include environmental sociology, climate change, social networks, and sustainability transition.

He has been a visiting scholar at the Department of Social Research, University of Helsinki, Finland, and the Department of Urban and Environmental Sociology, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research GmbH-UFZ, Germany.

He is a member of the coordinating team of the project Climate Change Policy Network. While affiliated with USF he will be undertaking a project titled "Sociocultural Dimension of Drought Management in the Era of Climate Change: Lessons Learned from California."
