Biography

Laura Seidman works as the utility energy analyst at Alameda Municipal Power, where she is responsible for implementing sustainability programs reflecting the city's Climate Action and Resiliency Plan. She creates and manages city-wide incentive and educational programs focused on reducing energy and carbon from the buildings and transportation sectors.

She came to this work after 10 years as an independent energy efficiency consultant in her own energy and design consulting company. During this time, she trained building professionals in high efficiency building construction, retrofit, and retro-commissioning. She has taught energy efficient construction and auditing for nonprofits, private companies, community colleges, and individuals. Laura earned her BA in biology from Occidental College, her MEd from The College of New Jersey, and her master’s in urban design from Oxford Brookes University.
