Josephine Gray
Adjunct Instructor, Music
Biography
Josephine Gray originates from New Zealand where she graduated with a Bachelors of Music Performance (Violin) from the University of Auckland. She certified as an Alexander Technique teacher in 1998. Other than the violin, which she plays professionally in many Bay Area regional orchestras, she plays piano, guitar and sings. She has taught Alexander technique at American Conservatory Theater, at Chevron and at the Opera Academy of California. She has recently certified in Jessica Wolf’s Art of Breathing. Josephine developed a debilitating tendonitis while completing her Bachelor’s degree and stopped playing for many years. Through studying the Alexander Technique she was able to resume her professional career without flare ups and is therefore inspired to teach young musicians how to play and sing with less tension.
