Papel Picado Workshop

11:30AM - 1:00PM
University Center 411/412 - Intercultural Center

In connection for Dia de Los Muertos, the Cultural Centers are hosting a papel picado making workshop for students, staff, and faculty members to partake in. All supplies are provided!

We are hosting this program to serve not only our community members who celebrate Dia de los Muertos, but also those who are looking for more connection to the holiday. Attendees can come by at any point in the time range to cut out their own and take pieces of twine with them.

During Dia de los Muertos, the spirits of the dead are welcomed back to their homes with beautifully decorated altars (altares or ofrendas) made by their loved ones. Sugar skulls, marigolds, candles, incense and special foods typically adorn the ofrenda, while papel picado is used as a gener decoration for many cultural events and celebrations. Join us in one of the many on-campus celebrations leading up to Dia de los Muertos this year!
