WHY DID YOU CHOOSE USF?
I chose to pursue my doctorate at USF because the Jesuit principles of equity and social justice upon which USF was founded, as well as the global perspective and culture of service it promotes, align perfectly with my own values. Given its accomplished faculty, diverse student body, and the many interesting classes on offer, USF has afforded me the opportunity to pursue my educational and career objectives in a welcoming and intellectually stimulating environment.
WHAT HAS BEEN A HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR PROGRAM OR USF SO FAR?
A highlight of my USF experience so far has been the relationships I have established with both my professors and my classmates. I have had the privilege of being in class with students from around the globe, giving me the unique opportunity to work with interesting people hailing from a variety of cultural backgrounds. And I have learned a great deal from my professors who have provided both interesting and academically challenging courses. More than once, I have been sad to say goodbye at the end of a semester.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS?
I would advise prospective students to sit in on classes, meet with faculty, go to events, and talk to current students. This will give them the opportunity to better understand the School of Education’s culture and to determine whether USF is a good fit for them.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SAN FRANCISCO (OR BAY AREA) RESTAURANT?
Zuni Café. This San Francisco establishment never disappoints! The atmosphere, the service, and the food are all excellent. The roast chicken is fantastic - well worth the wait!
