For Students

The Priscilla A. Scotlan Career Services Center offers the following services to students (Please note: All events will be conducted in a virtual setting until COVID-19 health and safety regulations allow otherwise):

  • Career Fairs
Every year, we host two large signature events in the fall and spring which allow you to connect with a large variety of employers interested in hiring across all majors. Career Premiere is held in the Fall (mid-September), and JOB FEST Career & Internship Festival is held in the Spring (end of February).

Students can log into their Handshake account to see the list of participating employers and sign up for the events.

  • Online Job and Internship Boards: Handshake & Internship Exchange
USF uses the popular college recruiting platform, Handshake. You’ll be able to easily upload your resume and search and apply for full-time jobs and internships. In addition, our Internship Exchange database provides internship listings across the nation. These are internships USF shares with 16 participating universities including University of Southern California, Boston College, Notre Dame, Harvard University, Princeton, University of Chicago, Wake Forest, and Swarthmore.
  • Career Weeks
Each semester, we will feature Career Weeks focused on specific industries. Each week will include a career workshop to help students prepare for jobs and internships, an alumni panel with USF alums who work in the industry, and a networking/recruiting event on Zoom called a Pop-in.

Students can log into their Handshake account to see the list of participating employers and sign up for the events.

  • Information Sessions
We offer Information Sessions with employers, who provide presentations and information about their organizations and employment opportunities. Students can log into their Handshake account to review dates employers will be hosting Information Sessions.
  • Employer of the Day
Employer of the Day allows students to have a one-on-one advice session with a real-world recruiter. Students can practice their interview skills, get their resumes critiqued, learn how to research a company or an industry, or ask anything about their job/internship search in an informal setting. Participating employers have included the San Francisco 49ers, CA State Department of Justice, Sangamo Therapeutics, and many others. Students can log into their Handshake account to review employers participating and sign up for an appointment.
  • Special Events/Diversity Recruiting Programming
The Career Center periodically organizes a larger diversity recruitment-focused event each semester. To find out more, contact Julia Hing at jahing@usfca.edu or Stephanie Belfiore at sibelfiore@usfca.edu.

Work with resources to ensure your resume, cover letter, and portfolio are strong. You may need to edit these documents many times, and before you get an interview, they are what recruiters and potential managers will see.
