Recruitment Activities

Due to coronavirus restrictions and specific instructions issued to higher education institutions by the San Francisco Department of Public Health, USF recently announced that our Fall 2020 semester will take place fully online.

Career Fairs

Every year, we host two large signature events in the fall and spring which allow you to connect with hundreds of students across all majors and class levels.

We are happy to announce our fall virtual Career Premiere recruiting fairs to be held September 22 to 24. The Career Premiere will run for 3 days with different industry focuses on each day from 11:30am to 2:00pm:

It will be held exclusively online via Handshake's new virtual career fair platform. This will be a great way to meet targeted and qualified students, and build your recruiting with students for internships and full-time jobs. Registration is only open to employers hiring for internships and full-time jobs. Sorry, no part-time employers or staffing agencies can participate.

The spring JOB FEST Career & Internship Festival will take place on February 26, 2021.

Career Weeks

STEM Career Week

Attention Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math employers - this week is for you! Our first virtual STEM Career Week will take place October 6 to 8. We will be hosting a STEM workshop, an alumni panel, an industry panel, and will round out the week with a STEM Pop-In networking event. This week is specifically designed for employers to meet with students working toward STEM degrees.

Contact Miriam Karpilow at for questions or if you're interested in participating in a panel.

MarCom Career Week

Calling all Marketing, Advertising, Communications, and Media employers! Join us for our first virtual MarCom Career Week from October 20 to 22. The week will cover a specific workshop and alumni and industry panels culminating in a MarCom Pop-in networking event. This is a targeted approach to meet USF students majoring in Marketing, Advertising, Communication Studies, and Media Studies.

Contact Julia Hing at or 415-422-2027 for more information on participating in one of the panels.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Week

What do diversity, equity, and inclusion look like at your work? What are your companies doing to address DEI in not only the workplace, but business practices, too? Our first DEI week is taking place November 10 to 12 and the week is designed to connect employers / individuals who can speak to DEI at their company, or share their own DEI work with USF students. We will have an alumni panel, a panel with folks who work on DEI initiatives, and host a DEI Pop-In so that students can connect with employers and professionals around these very important issues.

Contact Miriam Karpilow at for questions or if you're interested in participating in a panel.

Information Sessions

Set up a virtual info session to tell students about your company and open positions, and to network and answer questions. Use your own virtual meeting platform link (e.g. Zoom, Google Hangout, WebEx, etc), and create the session as an Event in Handshake to promote to students. Log in through your Handshake account. If you don’t have a virtual meeting platform, USF Career Services can help you host a session on our Zoom account. Students are likely to attend on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 11:45am-1:30pm or after 5:00pm Monday-Thursday.

Contact Julia Hing at or 415-422-2027.

Employer of the Day

Meet with USF students online via Zoom to answer their questions on job/internship search, practice interview skills by doing a mock interview, or review their resume for an upcoming job interview. They may also ask for help on how to research a company or industry or salary negotiation. It is a great opportunity for you to connect and make student contacts. We'll set up Zoom and the schedule of 30-minute appointments for you.

We will host four Employer of the Days and the session runs from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

  • September 2
  • September 16
  • October 7
  • October 21

Our fall dates are filled, however we will host additional Employer of the Day sessions in the spring. Dates will be announced later.

Contact Julia Hing at or 414-422-2027 for more information.

Customized Recruitment Events

On-Campus Interviews

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and remote classes this fall, USF Career Services will not host on-campus interviews. However, employers are welcome to post their positions on Handshake and arrange interview appointments directly with candidates.

Contact Julia Hing at or 415-422-2027 if you have questions on how to do this.

Partner with Student Organizations

Meet USF’s student leaders by partnering with student clubs recruitment activities and speaking engagements. Contact a student club or Miriam Karpilow at in the Career Center to discuss different ways you can reach these targeted audiences.

If you have questions about any of the events above, feel free to reach out to Julia Hing at or Miriam Karpilow at, the USF Career Center Employer Relations Team. Thanks for recruiting at USF!

We’ve had quite a few successes with interns from USF. They are prepared, well adjusted friendly students who have experience at some of the top companies in the Bay Area.
