Kindergarten teacher and co-author of the children’s book, What Would the World Be Without Latinos? Leon has taught in elementary, middle, and high school, but “kinder has my heart,” she says.
Our graduates learn crucial sociological frameworks, their implications for social justice, and how to communicate their point of view effectively through writing and public speaking. The sociology degree is useful for a variety of fields and many of our alumni go on to focus on criminology, education, globalization, and critical diversity, aiming to understand the impact of social structures while envisioning alternative futures at both the local and global level.
