Our Alumni

Our students go on to pursue careers in a wide range of fields, including astrophysics, nuclear engineering, systems engineering, medicine, and even law. After graduating, many pursue master’s and PhD programs in physics, engineering, applied math, or other technical fields.

Their Stories

Luis Juan Vasquez

The Backbone of Defense

“In undergrad, I was constantly challenged to be versatile, hardworking, and creative in all my physics courses. This shaped my approach and dedication, and prepared me to thrive in a reputable engineering company.”

Juan-Luis Vasquez ’14
L.Y. Aaron Yung '14

Mysteries of the Universe

“The physics department provided ample research opportunities. I did three years of research with my professor, exploring whether nearby dwarf galaxies could have hosted the first stars in the universe. This was crucial to preparing me for graduate school.”

L.Y. Aaron Yung ’14

Grit and Confidence

“Given that research at the graduate level is tremendously frustrating and confusing, majoring in physics gives you the ability to persevere when you feel like you don’t know what’s going on. It gives you the grit and confidence to learn any topic you’re interested in.”
