Learn about the resources available to help USF students grow as individuals and academics.
The Jesuit hallmark of cura personalis, or care for the whole person, describes the respect we have for each person’s intellectual, physical, and spiritual health and autonomy.
USF believes that the mind, body, and spirit deserve equal attention and consideration, and our goal is to have each of our students functioning at the highest levels of all three, in ways that make the most sense for you.
Of course, your intellectual pursuits while at USF are of the utmost importance to us, and our dedication to your studies never wavers. But there is more to your mind than the lessons you learn in the classroom, and we honor that. You have a variety of services and resources designed to keep your mental health as robust as your intellectual growth: counseling and psychological services, academic success coaching, and peer mentoring and support.
We recognize that being physically healthy enables our students to stay sharp mentally and meet their challenges in the classroom, so we provide great options to get and keep you in great physical condition. At our Koret Health and Recreation Center you’ll find a variety of recreational sports activities, fitness classes, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool; our Outdoor Adventures program takes students off campus for hikes, ski trips, beach yoga, and more; our Health Promotion Services offer a health clinic, access to student health insurance, free nutrition appointments with a dietetic technician, and other resources to keep you in tip-top shape.
Rounding out “the big three” of cura personalis is our commitment to helping you maintain your spiritual wellness. At USF, spirituality isn’t limited to religion. It doesn’t matter whether you’re Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, or atheist — you will always have a seat at our table, and we take it as our sacred duty to help you explore any and all areas of your spirituality. Our University Ministry program offers retreats to allow you to do just that, away from the demands of campus life. Our volunteering options are vast across clubs and programs all over campus, and each opportunity gives you the chance to nourish your soul by giving back to others. Our service learning requirement enables you to immerse yourself in our surrounding community, working with its members to solve real problems. If you’re on a spiritual journey, we are here to support it. If you’re not, we’re still here… for you.
