Dean Leading California Nurses and Health Policy

Judith Karshmer

Judith Karshmer, dean of the SONHP, has been named a board member of the Association of California Nurse Leaders.

Judith Karshmer, USF dean of nursing and health professions, has been elected to represent nurse scholars from across the state on the Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL) board.

Advancing care & public health

Karshmer will help guide the development of nurse leaders and advocate for California health care system improvements as a member of the nonprofit board.

“I’m excited to be a part of this nursing leadership organization that can truly help position nurses to advance health care,” Karshmer said.

Overseeing hospital & emergency services

Her seat on the board is for two-years, at which time she’ll be eligible for re-election. The ACNL board is made up of 15 representatives from hospitals, research institutions, businesses, academia, and health systems throughout California.

Karshmer also serves on the San Francisco Health Commission, the governing and policy-making body of the city’s public health department, which oversees San Francisco hospitals and monitors and regulates emergency medical services and public health.
