A comprehensive guide to the history and tenets of the Muslim faith, including chapters on mosques and Islamic centers, schools, media, community groups, public affairs organizations and research organizations. Each chapter features a particular school or organization. Also included is information on population groups, ethnicities of Muslims, and statistics, along with a directory of Muslim organizations. A final section discusses the impact on and responses of the Muslim community to the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001.
