Amanda Coor

Amanda Corr grew up in Los Angeles, California. Surrounded by Latin@ and Chican@ culture, she learned more and more about the intricacies of life in the Americas. Currently a sophomore at USF, she majors in Latin American Studies and Spanish, planning to travel, learn, and teach for the rest of her life. When she is not baking cookies with her wonderful roommates, she can be found perusing the shelves at City Lights Bookstore.

Cindy Venerio

Cindy Venerio is at USF studying history. She was born and raised in Miami, FL. Growing up in such a diverse city led her to become interested in Latinos and their impact in the US. She is very interested in studying immigration, with hopes of becoming an immigration lawyer someday.

Dylan Wittrock

Dylan Wittrock is a senior Spanish major at USF, with a minor in film studies. Growing up in Los Angeles and going to college in San Francisco, he has always been inspired by the vibrant culture of Latin America. He is proud to have been played a part in sharing the beauty of that culture with the world. He plans to continue writing and making films about people and their inspiring true stories.

Gary Gardner

Gary Gardner is from Livermore, California. He is 24 years old and has been a medical logistics officer in the United States Army for the past six years. He is a senior graduating in the spring with a double major in Politics and Economics. His ambition in life is to either become a lawyer, advocating for the underrepresented, or go into marketing for Google applications.

Janaina Yera-Paez

Janaina Yera-Paez was born and raised in the city of San Francisco. She comes from an Afro-Cuban and Mexican background. She is currently in her 4th year at the University of San Francisco, graduating spring 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Business with a focus in Hospitality Industry Management, and a Minor in Latin American Studies. After graduation she plans to enroll in a Management training program in a hotel here in San Francisco or in a city with similar attributes.

Marie Shier

Marie Shier is a senior at USF graduating this December. She is a Latin American Studies major and Art History minor who grew up in the East Bay. This is her second year working with Divisadero. She is spending January in Ecuador and then plans to continue working in the San Francisco area.

Robert Lara

Robert Lara was born and raised in San Jose, California, and is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in the International Studies Program at the University of San Francisco. Robert has chosen Latin American Studies as his minor, and the Divisadero Magazine Publication as his first outlet to give back to the Latino Community. Robert is a proud United States Navy Veteran, and having sailed the seven seas, Robert has already expanded his horizons and networked in 14 countries. He now wishes to add to his personal credibility and vast experience with a degree from the College of Arts & Sciences at USF. Robert is in his junior year and not only volunteers as a DJ for KUSF, but also is the Co-Founder and Public Relations Officer for the United Veterans of USF. Tough bill to fill for your average student, but this Student Veteran is showing no signs of quit, and vows to work hard and play hard until his mission is complete.

Sally Morton

Majoring in English with a Latin American minor, Sally Morton found her passion for Latin America after living in Guatemala and Bolivia! She hopes to work for an experiential education traveling company in Central or South America.

Tiye Sheppard

Tiye Sheppard is a San Francisco native, majoring in Media Studies with a double minor in Latin American Studies and Film Studies. She entered USF at the age of 16, graduating two years early from Metropolitan Arts and Tech High School. She is passionate about education, culture, and sports, and hopes to link all areas into a prosperous career.
