Schroeder Named New Vice President

Tracy Schroeder
Tracy Schroeder was named vice president for information technology.
Tracy Schroeder, chief information officer, was promoted to vice president for information technology. Her promotion was announced by President Stephen A. Privett, S.J. during his fall convocation address Aug. 22.

"The reason for the title change was to clarify my role and duties," Schroeder said. Although she reported to the president as CIO and was a member of the executive leadership team, Schroeder explained, the new title makes her authority explicit. As Information Technology turns its attention to revamping the university's information systems in the next three to four years--entailing a delicate transfer of the university's most important information--"governance and lines of authority" need to be clear, Schroder said.

Schroeder became CIO in the fall of 2002 and led the migration to a new telephone system last December. She also spearheaded the USF Connect Web connection for students, faculty, and staff, and serves as co-chair of the Ad Hoc Web Task Force, the group overseeing the redesign of the USF Web site, which launched in April.
