Corey Cook, politics, spoke on KNTV-TV May 7 about Sen. Hillary Clinton's desire to stay in the presidential race, as well as a possible Clinton-Obama ticket. Cook discussed how same-sex marriage would affect the November election in an Associated Press article that ran in the San Francisco Examiner, Tulsa World, The Stamford Advocate, and The Boston Globe May 17. Cook was interviewed about same-sex marriage on KPIX-TV May 27. On May 30, Cook was featured on KPFA and KPFB radio shows, discussing Scott McClellan's book with John Nichols from The Nation. Cook was also quoted in the San Francisco Examiner May 31, commenting that voter turnout in San Francisco on June 3 was expected to be very low. The same day, Cook was a guest on KCBS radio discussing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's endorsement of Assemblyman Mark Leno for California State Senate in the June 3 election.

Kiriyama Distinguished Fellow - Center for the Pacific Rim, discussed meetings between the United States and Russia at a World Trade Organization conference in Geneva, Switzerland on KGO-TV May 19.

Richard Kamler, visual arts, was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, SF Weekly, and Nichi Bei Times for his peace billboard project, "Seeing Peace: Artists Collaborate with the United Nations." Ten different billboards were displayed throughout San Francisco. Each billboard embodied what peace looks like from the artists' cultural perspective. Kamler's project received numerous amounts of press coverage during the month of May including another brief in the San Francisco Chronicle, The San Francisco Examiner, The Bay Area Reporter, KGO-TV, KNTV-TV, KBWB-TV, and the "Evening Drive" segment on KGO-AM.

 
  MurphyPatrick Murphy, director of the Leo T. McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good, was included on KGO-TV's "Focus on Solutions" segment May 1. The four-minute piece focused on Lynn C. Fritz's commitment to public service and natural disaster relief efforts. Murphy commented about Fritz being honored with the first USF California Prize for Service and the Common Good. The segment was replayed three additional times - May 1 on KBWB-TV, May 2 on KGO-TV at 6 a.m., and May 4 on KGO-TV at 6 a.m.

Tony Ribera, director of the Institute of Criminal Justice Leadership Program, commented in the San Francisco Chronicle on May 14 about plans to close several police stations in the city. Ribera disagrees that closing police stations will be an effective change.

TalbotRobert Talbot, law, discussed the Anthony Guardo murder on KNTV-TV May 12, stating that the suspect's mental intent is still unknown.

James Taylor, politics, discussed the North Carolina and Indiana primaries with KGO-TV May 6. Taylor was on KGO-TV May 7, saying that Sen. Hillary Clinton does not have a chance to win the Democratic presidential nomination. Taylor appeared on KTVU-TV May 12, saying that while anything could happen in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination he believed that Sen. Barack Obama had the upper hand. Taylor discussed the Oregon and Kentucky primary election results May 20 with KGO-TV.

Stephen Zunes, politics, discussed Sen. John McCain's stance on the Iraq War with Black Enterprise magazine May 1. Zunes also discussed Sen. Barack Obama's Iraq exit plan with Le Monde Diplomatique.
