David Batstone, theology, was featured in the September issue of Entrepreneur magazine. Batstone commented on the root causes of unethical behavior in American business. He was also interviewed Sept. 17 on KGO radio about fired New York Stock Exchange Chairman Richard Grasso and was quoted in the Sept. 26 St. Petersburg Times regarding the practice of renting out religious sanctuaries for non-religious events.

Evelyn Eaton Whitehead and James D. Whitehead, endowed Electronic Data Systems Corporation-Stewart Chair Distinguished Fellows at the Ricci Institute, wrote a story published in the September issue of America magazine detailing the spiritual rebirth of Shenzhen, China.

Betty Carmack, nursing, was featured in the Sept. 4 Wall Street Journal and Sept. 26 San Francisco Chronicle about her work helping people overcome the emotional loss of a pet.

Stephen Zunes, politics, was interviewed by Radio Singapore, the San Francisco Chronicle, KGO Radio, the Boston Globe, New Jersey Star-Ledger, New Orleans Times-Picayune, San Jose Mercury News, and the Tallahassee Democrat regarding various aspects of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East.

Roberta Johnson, politics, was interviewed Sept. 7 on KPIX TV regarding President George W. Bush’s televised address to the nation.

Lloyd Hatcher, history, was interviewed Sept. 8 on KGO Radio about a possible United Nations takeover of the reconstruction of Iraq and why members of President Bush’s administration oppose it.

Tony Ribera, director of the International Institute of Criminal Justice Leadership, was featured in the Sept. 11 San Francisco Chronicle about his mayoral campaign.

Melinda Stone, media studies, was interviewed in the Sept. 11 Sacramento Bee describing her traveling “film extravaganza” which is part independent film festival and part old fashioned, drive-in movie experience.

Benjamin Tosi, events scheduling and services, was featured in the Sept. 14 San Francisco Chronicle for winning the gold medal in precision shooting at the 2003 National Bocce Championships.

Bob Talbot, law, was interviewed Sept. 25 by KGO TV regarding the legalities of the “no-call” list prohibiting telemarketers from calling consumers. He was also interviewed Sept. 23 by KNTV TV regarding the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision to continue with the California governor’s recall election.

Roger Chen, business, was quoted in the Sept. 26 Tampa Tribune regarding the advantage smaller Chinese companies have over multinational competitors in delivering niche products.
