Michael Lehmann, Economics, was interviewed Sept. 24 by KRON TV about U.S. interest rates. He also talked about the West Coast port crisis to KPIX TV, Phoenix radio station KTAR, and the BBC of London.


Uldis Kruze, History, talked to The Miami Herald Sept. 26 about religion in China.


Roberto Gutierrez Varea, Visual and Performing Arts, spoke to Radio Unica Sept. 27 and Univision Oct. 5 about a silent march he organized in memory of slain actress Evelyn Hernandez. Varea, Richard Kammler, Visual and Performing Arts, and the RAT (Regional Alternative Theater) conference held at USF Oct. 3-6 were written up in New York’s Village Voice Oct. 11.


Raymond Dennehy, Philosophy, was interviewed by KNTV TV in September about Governor Gray Davis’ signing of a bill on stem cell research.


The Philadelphia Inquirer, the San Jose Business Journal, the San Francisco Business Times, and KGO radio all featured stories about the School of Law’s new Investor Justice Program.


Robert Talbot, School of Law, spoke Oct. 3 to KPIX TV about “American Taliban” John Walker Lindh’s sentencing.


Julio Moreno, History, was interviewed by Univision’s Noticiero Nacional on Mexican migration to the United States. This special report was re-broadcast on CNN in Spanish Oct. 3. He was also quoted Oct. 2 and 3 by the San Jose Mercury News and La Opinion about Governor Davis and Assembly bills concerning Latinos.


Joshua Gamsom, Sociology, spoke Sept. 30 to ABC News.com about Princess Diana’s legend.

John Denvir, School of Law, and his Web site, “Picturing Justice,” were featured Oct. 7 in the legal newspaper The Recorder.


Robert Elias, Politics, was quoted Oct. 13 in the San Francisco Chronicle about the importance of baseball in uniting the community.


David Macmillan, vice president, University Advancement, was quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle Oct. 14 on USF’s new sports initiative, “Reaching New Heights on the Hilltop.”


Stephen Zunes, Politics, was interviewed by MSNBC on Oct. 14 about the possibility of a war against Iraq. He was also featured in a broadcast of a political debate at Georgetown University on CSPAN Oct. 23 and was interviewed Oct. 24 on National Public Radio’s Talk of the Nation.


Terence Patterson, Psychology, was quoted Oct. 17 by the San Jose Mercury News about teenage suicide.


Sally Vance-Trembath, Theology, spoke to KGO TV Oct. 18 about the Vatican and the priest sex abuse scandal.


Stephen A. Privett, S.J., USF president, had an op-ed published in the San Francisco Chronicle Oct. 20 about the possibility of the United States going to war with Iraq.


Fr. Alberto Huerta, Languages, was interviewed Sept. 5 for a 90-minute PBS documentary on the California bandit-hero Joaquin Murieta to be aired nationwide in 2004. He was also interviewed Oct. 27 by the Canadian Broadcasting Company for an hour-long radio show on San Francisco poet and artist Lawrence Ferhlinghetti. Huerta also published an article, “Long Road to Tepeyac,” July 31 in San Diego’s La Prensa newspaper on the canonization of Juan Diego.
