School of Business Earns $500K Grant

Statistics show that just 10 percent of family businesses survive beyond two generations. The USF School of Business and Management’s Family Business Resource Center works to boost that number by providing specialized training for the unique challenges faced by family businesses in an increasingly global corporate marketplace.

The efforts of the business school and the center recently received a boost from the Carl Gellert and Celia Berta Gellert Foundation, which awarded the school a $500,000 grant. The money will help pay for the expansion of McLaren Complex, home to the business school.

The University will rename the center the Carl Gellert and Celia Berta Gellert Foundation Family Business Resource Center (GFBRC).

Each year, the GFBRC will recognize a California family business that demonstrates the highest quality business operations and community service with the “Carl Gellert and Celia Berta Gellert Community Service Award.”end
