USFnews Plans Transition to Online-only Format

Beginning in January 2002, USFnews will be published exclusively online. The advantages of the move include significant cost savings to the University, increased readership, fewer space constraints, and increased timeliness of the news.

The monthly faculty and staff newspaper will be published both in print and online through the end of 2001. USFnews Online can be accessed at www.usfca.edu/usfnews. Past issues are also archived on the site.

Besides offering significant cost savings to the University, the electronic format presents several other benefits. USFnews Online has the capacity to run more stories each month, as it is not subject to the space constraints of the print edition. The content of USFnews Online will be more timely than the print edition because the time and work involved in design and printing will be significantly reduced. The Web site also offers the distinct advantage of allowing for news updates between issues.

The new format will greatly increase the readership of the publication. Unlike the print edition, USFnews Online reaches beyond the campus community of faculty and staff. The Web site offers alumni, prospective students, and others interested in USF easy access to current University news.
