Law Enforcement Symposium Attracts 100+
More than 100 law enforcement officers gathered on Lone Mountain in the spring for the annual Law Enforcement Leadership (LEL) symposium. Organized by former San Francisco Police Chief Anthony Ribera, who is the associate director of the College of Professional Studies' LEL program, the symposium attracted 110 people, including police chiefs, captains, commanders, and deputy chiefs.
Los Angles Police Chief Bernard Parks and Commander Koenig led a discussion on the "Ramparts" investigation into police corruption in his department. The day also included panel discussions on threat assessment, technology, and ethics.
Provost Jim Wiser made opening remarks, and CPS Dean Larry Brewster presented the Law Enforcement Leadership award to Sacramento Police Chief and CPS alumnus Arturo Venegas.
The symposium was expanded to three days this year, as opposed to two days in the past.
The event raised approximately $50,000 in scholarship money.
