| R&A: Royal and Ancient Golf Club |
The Home Page of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. In 1897, the "R&A" became the "Governing Authority" on the Rules of Golf. Since then, with the exception of the United States of America, whose allegiance lies with the United States Golf Association, and Canada, which is self-governing but affiliated to the R&A, every country which has taken up the ancient game has affiliated to the R&A and accepts its authority. There are now some 100 countries, associations and unions affiliated to the R&A. We hope that this site will help golfers around the world to have closer links with their "Governing Authority". |
