At the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) 16th Annual Entrepreneurial Spirit Awards Dinner in New York on April 16, Dean Mike Duffy received the 2009 Enterprising Educator Award which was "In recognition of your excellence in advancing entrepreneurship education throughout the Bay Area."
In 2006, NFTE Bay Area began a relationship with the University of San Francisco, School of Business and Management, its administration, faculty, and MBA students. USF MBA students participate as judges for classroom competitions and work as business plan coaches and mentors. To date, over 80 MBA students have volunteered and have chosen NFTE as one of their favorite charities (second to the Special Olympics) in an intercollegiate Challenge for Charity taking place among the top business schools in California. USF hosts NFTE’s annual Regional Youth Business Plan Competition and Dinner (co-hosted by the USF Hospitality Management Program), summer BizCamp, NFTE University teacher trainings and our students and teacher workshops. Students from the NFTE program are able to attend university events including college admissions workshops and the university’s International Business Plan Competition. In 2008, Dean Duffy invited NFTE Bay Area to move into the School of Business and Management. Through the partnership with USF, NFTE receives office space, IT and administrative support and works more closely with the faculty, graduates and undergraduates of the entire university.
