Welcome to 2011!
This month in hrDirect, Lori Bauwens and her payroll colleagues remind us of important dates for W-2's, how to access the 2011 tax reporting forms, and the convenience of direct deposit.
Employment Services announces that positions no longer need to be approved by Cabinet before posting, and Diane Nelson lets us know of HR's new one-on-one weekly new staff orientations.
Benefits speaks of Provost Turpin's recently appointed university-wide Task Force on Sustainable Benefits, and reminds faculty and staff of the new 2011 benefits rates and deductions. Diane Sweeney also reminds us of the availability of financial planning opportunities and how to get a free healthy snack at Koret from Healthy USF!

New staff members will now receive one-on-one New Staff Orientations with Jennifer Heap, HR Generalist, within their first week of employment for an in-depth review of the University's policies, programs, websites, and other important resources. These New Staff Orientations will be scheduled individually by Jennifer Heap
Every two months, Human Resources will also host a University Welcome to introduce new staff members to the University's vision, mission, and values (presented by Father Privett); history; and extended community. The schedule for the 2011 University Welcomes is available for download here
New Faculty & Staff – Submit Your Benefits Enrollment Forms!
If you are new to USF, or newly eligible for benefits, remember to schedule your Benefits Orientation and submit your benefits enrollment forms promptly. You have 30 days from date of hire to elect your eligible benefits. If you miss this window, you must wait until Open Enrollment in Fall 2011 to enroll in benefits. To get started and schedule your Benefits Orientation with Sharon Hom, please contact the main Human Resources desk at x6707.
Sustainable Benefits Task Force
A committee has been appointed by Jennifer Turpin to review the benefits offered by USF with a goal of maintaining a competitive employee benefits package at a lower cost. The committee began in January with final recommendations going to the Cabinet by May 2011. Your input will be an important component to this process. More information will be forthcoming regarding an important survey that you will be invited to participate in.
Sign Up for Direct Deposit
If you have not already signed up for direct deposit, please take the time to complete the direct deposit form
and submit it to the Payroll department in LM145. Direct deposit is more secure and efficient and allows you instant access to your paycheck as soon as your bank opens each payday, allowing you to avoid the hassle of tracking down your paycheck and depositing it in the ATM.
Meet One-on-One with a Financial Consultant
USF offers two ways for benefits eligible faculty and staff to meet individually with financial consultants - plan representatives and an independent financial consultant. Representatives from Fidelity, TIAA-CREF and Valic are on-campus monthly throughout the year. Every other month, Joe Crowley, an independent financial consultant, is on campus to meet with employees. Specific dates, times and scheduling information can be found here
. Take advantage of these great opportunities to discuss strategies and have your questions answered!

For this challenge you will work with a health coach to set a wellness goal and create an action plan to achieve your goal. All participants will receive a goodie bag with participation, and those who achieve 75% of their wellness goal will earn eligibility for raffle prizes.
Thank you to the 132 individuals who completed the Personal Health Profile.
WellCall’s confidential Personal Health Profile (PHP)
is a health risk assessment survey consisting of a series of questions about your health and wellness habits. A personal wellness report is generated based on your responses with recommendations for improving your overall health and well-being.
Individual results are strictly confidential and will not be shared with USF. Only aggregate data will be shared with the Office of Human Resources to help determine the most effective programs to address health risks and to award wellness rewards.
Those individuals who qualified for the wellness reward by completing the PHP, participating in the onsite screenings and contacting a health coach by January 15th will be contacted by Diane Sweeney with instructions on how to redeem their $50 Koret or bookstore credit.
Congratulations to raffle winner, Jodi Wilson - School of Nursing for being one of the first 100 faculty and staff to complete the PHP. Jodi will enjoy a one-month home delivery of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables.
