Welcome to Academic Year 2011-2012!
 
To better serve you, the Office of Human Resources has undergone some staff changes, physical remodeling and streamlining of processes over the summer. We are excited about the new school year and look forward to supporting you, our faculty and staff colleagues, in your roles to “Change the World From Here”.
 
One of our improvements includes additional front desk customer service staff. If you need immediate assistance, please call 422-6707 and Val Armstrong or Maggie Gonzalez will direct your call. In the Benefits arena, Diane SweeneyGregg Cannella, and Marie O’Connor are here to serve you. Your calls or emails will be returned within one business day and Skype video conferences are also available by appointment, both during or after business hours.
 
Please join us at the re-launch of the University’s Wellness Program, Healthy USF, at the September 22nd Wellness Fair.  Additionally, Go USF, a Healthy USF program for runners, walkers and volunteers, invites you to participate in their first event on October 2nd, the Bridge To Bridge Run/Walk. We look forward to your participation!

Healthy USF Wellness Fair
 
The first Healthy USF Wellness Fair will be held on September 22nd, from 10 a.m.–2p.m. in the McLaren complex.  Come by to see healthy cooking and exercise demonstrations, meet with local vendors and your healthcare providers (Blue Cross, Delta Dental, Kaiser and VSP) to find out about healthy resources in the area. You can also view presentations focused on your health throughout the day.  In addition, biometric screenings will be offered, including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, and BMI.
 
 
Go USF
 
We welcome runners, walkers and fitness enthusiasts to participate in a weekly group training program that began Thursday, August 25th.  Running coach Suzy Kisylia and walking coach Joanne Boyer will lead this 6-week training program, which includes group workouts. If you would like to participate, meet at the running statue outside Koret at 12:00 p.m on Thursdays.  Feel free to drop in any week.
 
Join us in our first event, The 35th Annual Glide Floss Bridge to Bridge 12K and 7K run/walk on Sunday, October 2nd, 2011.  
 
Event entrance fees and Go USF team t-shirts will be provided, in addition to free training. For further details and registration information, visit the website. New Login Process for WellCall
 
The WellCall login process at www.mywellcall.com  has changed effective August 15th. If you previously registered on the website you will be asked to re-enter the email address and password that you registered with. You will then follow the steps to verify your email address and set up security questions. 
 
If you are a new user, please click on “register,” enter the company password “usf” and create an account with your email address and a password. Check out all of the great resources that WellCall has to offer such as online coaching programs, tutorials, and discounts on gym memberships.
 
 
Dental Claim Tips and Flexible Spending Accounts
 
You can use your Benesyst “Benny” Benefits Card to pay for eligible dental expenses. To avoid documentation request letters and overpayments on dental claims, request that your dentist bill the insurance carrier for all charges. Do not pay with your Benesyst “Benny” until you have received your Explanation of Benefits from the insurance carrier with the specific amount that you owe.

Information on Retirement Income Security
 
Joe Crowley will present information on Retirement Income Security on October 12th from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m., in McLaren 250. Learn about sources of income in retirement and retirement plan distribution options like annuities and annuity substitutes. 

Annual Health & Benefits Fair
 
The Annual Health & Benefits Fair will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at McLaren. Meet with benefit plan providers and be informed as you make your open enrollment decisions. Dates for open enrollment will be announced in September.
 
 
Exciting Changes to HR Employment Staff
 
To better serve your general Human Resources and Employment needs, we are happy to announce the following changes and additions to our staff. Please note that the functional responsibilities have shifted somewhat to streamline workflow and enhance service quality and timing to you, our customers.

Jennifer Heap, x 6854
 
Jennifer has been promoted to Senior HR Specialist and is now responsible for the coordination of visa and permanent residence requests, offer letters, background checks and the EPAF simplification project. Jennifer graduated from Santa Clara University, with a Bachelor’s in Communications and a Minor in Spanish. She has been with USF in the HR department for the past 2 years, and is currently enrolled in the USF Master in Nonprofit Administration program.
 
Ali Tabor, x 2431
 
Ali comes to the University of San Francisco from Nicholls State University in Louisiana, where she was a Human Resources Specialist for 5 years. While at Nicholls, Ali earned her MBA and a degree in Human Resources Management.   As a Human Resources Specialist for USF, Ali will be responsible for requests for employment verification and new hire orientation.  She will also assist with recruitment, employment, the merit and service awards and PeopleAdmin functions.
 
Maggie Gonzalez, x 2177
 
Maggie relocated to San Francisco from Stockton where she worked as a Human Resource Assistant at Safeway Inc. for 4 years. As the HR Receptionist, Maggie will answer the phone and direct calls, manage personnel files, as well as respond to subpoenas and requests to view these files, and enter new hire information into Banner. Maggie and Val Armstrong are available to assist you with your HR needs.

Fall is a time for change as we return from vacation, begin a new school year, or start a new job. Please remember to keep your payroll specific information current. To update your Federal Withholding Certificate (W-4), California Withholding Certificate (DE 4), Direct Deposit, or other payroll related forms, please visit: http://www.usfca.edu/hr/forms/
 
Submit these forms via fax or in person as they contain private and highly confidential data. Please remember emailing unencrypted, confidential information, specifically your SSN, is not permitted per the USF Information Security PolicyPlease remember to visit the HR Website at: http://www.usfca.edu/hr/  for information on 2011-2012 Holidays and payroll schedules.

Please take a moment to verify your “Current” mailing address.  You may access and update your “Current” mailing address information online through Employee Self Service.
To view and update your mailing address:
1.    Log into USFConnect and select the Employee Tab.  
2.    Click the "Click Here" button within the "Employee Self Service" box.
3.    From the Employee Self Service Main Menu, click the "Personal Information" link followed by the "Addresses and Phones" Link. 
4.    Select the “Current” mailing address type. 
5.    Enter updated address information.
