MBA 6208 - Private Equity and Venture Capital (2)

(Elective for Finance concentration.) (Elective for Entrepreneurship concentration.) This course explores the importance of private equity financing, including venture capital, in contemporary financial markets. The course examines the limited partnership business models for private equity and venture capital funds with a focus on how these funds raise capital from institutional investors. You will then learn to identify, value and finance key transactions (e.g. mezzanine financings, LBO transactions and the funding of start-ups). The course also covers the nature of the corporate governance arrangements used in private equity and venture capital funds, along with the associated due diligence performed.
