MPH 694 - Cultural and Linguistic Preparation for Healthcare Immersion (1)
This elective clinical course affords the opportunity to apply knowledge and understanding of the impact of socioeconomic and political influences on the health and well-being of individuals and communities in a "low resource setting". Students will participate in an immersion learning program in which they will live and work in a culture different from their own. Students will experience first hand the challenges or providing high quality, cultural competent health care in clinical environments with sub optimum resources. Linquisitic preparation that will begin in prerequisite course will continue during the immersion through structured lessons in the language of the specific geographical area.
