He has always worked to integrate the
political dimensions of the search for social justice with the
exploration of Christian faith through philosophy and theology. From
1991 to 1997 he taught part-time in the universities of Manchester and
London, while living in areas of social deprivation, and later held
responsibility for the ‘formation’ of Jesuits in his province. From 1997
to 2004 he was principal advisor and representative on international
affairs to the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales. Since 2005, he has
worked in Brussels as General Director of the Jesuit European Office,
present in four countries, which reflects and comments on European
affairs from the primary perspective of justice and peace.
