Leadership through commitment, academic excellence, and innovative practice.
The Master of Arts in Organization and Leadership (O&L) program gives students the opportunity to work with a diverse and unique faculty and focus their study.
The MA in O&L Program consists of 30 credits.
See the variety of courses and Program Structure.
Students work closely with a faculty advisor to craft their program in areas of study that represent current dimensions and challenges of leadership; the university, corporations, healthcare, technology, K-12 schooling, and international development.
Students may choose to do a general program with no specific concentration or build on one of these three focus areas:
- K-12 Instructional Leadership
- 21st Century Leadership
- Higher Education Leadership
The program can be completed in 18 months to two years. Students may also combine their course of study for the MA degree with preparation for the California Preliminary. See the credential course of study here.

"The Program at the University of San Francisco did a terrific job of preparing me for the challenges of school administration. The classes were small and tailored to the needs of the students, and the professors were knowledgeable and passionate about current issues in education. Much of what I learned in class I was able to apply immediately as a school leader. I enthusiastically recommend USF to future leaders preparing to make a difference for students."
