Dean Kevin Kumashiro recently named professors Elena Flores, Shabnam Koirala-Azad, and Stephen Katsouros as new associate deans of the School of Education, starting this Fall.
"These three new associate deans bring vision, skillful leadership, and a profound commitment to educational excellence and justice. With this new leadership structure, the School of Education is prepared to expand its capacity to impact positively the learning, wellness, and success of urban children, families, and communities," said Kumashiro.
Dr. Elena Flores will serve as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (Credentialing Programs and Faculty Development) and will be responsible for providing leadership for all academic and faculty affairs. She will oversee the strategic development of credentialing programs and branch-campus programs, as well as school-wide initiatives to support faculty research and development.
Dr. Shabnam Koirala-Azad will serve as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (Non-Credentialing Programs and Community Relations). She will be responsible for providing leadership for non-credentialing and online programs, as well as external relationships with partners and communities.
Fr. Stephen Katsouros, Associate Dean for Strategic Projects, will be responsible for selected projects that advance the priorities of the School of Education, including strategic planning, development, and institutional capacity building.
