USF Entrepreneurship Program - TechBA

What is TechBA?

The Mexican Ministry of Economy has funded a program operated by the U.S./Mexico Foundation for Science (FUMEC) designed to promote and support entrepreneurship to top-tier Mexican start-ups. The goal of this initiative is to bring these ventures to the U.S. to help accelerate their growth and internationalize their product/service offerings. To this end, FUMEC has established two Technology Business Accelerators (TechBAs) located in San Jose, CA and in Austin, TX with a third targeted to open by mid-2006 in Montreal, Canada.

The School of Business and Management of the University of San Francisco has been selected by FUMEC to become the academic arm of TechBA-Silicon Valley (San Jose, CA). With the aid of students and faculty, USF will provide research support to address the needs in the areas of localization in the US, internationalization and business acceleration for these companies.

Through this initiative, USF’s Entrepreneurship Program will promote a deep understanding of bi-national entrepreneurship and its critical success factors. Furthermore, we will work with TechBA to continue developing processes that will facilitate the identification and selection of new business ventures. Moreover, we will provide additional feedback to promote further entrepreneurship and clusters of innovations in Mexico. Finally, as part of this initiative, USF will host visiting faculty from Mexico who will work with the TechBA companies and synergistic academic topics. After a semester, the visiting scholars will return to Mexico with new insights gained from the rich Bay Area entrepreneurial ecosystem and new networks of academic and business relationships.
