Online Registration Instructions
Web registration is available to USF students in participating schools and
colleges. If you have any questions about your school's participation in web
registration, please consult your dean's office or the dean's office appropriate to your course selection.
Undergraduate students' access to web registration begins at their assigned
access times. The "Register and Add/Drop Classes" page cannot be accessed until
then.
Read on for step-by-step instructions on web registration.
Step 1 - Go to USFconnect
in your web browser and log on.
Step 2 - In USFconnect,
click on the "Student" tab. Under the "Banner Self Service" section, click on the "Click here" button. Then click on the
"Registration" menu.
Step 3 - Click on "View Holds." If you have a hold on your registration, you will receive a message at this point regarding the hold. You will need to clear the hold before you can proceed.
Step 4 - Click on "Look Up and Register for Classes." Now choose the term for which you would like to register and click the "Submit" button.
- You can search for courses by selecting and entering various search criteria. Click the "Class Search" button towards the bottom of the screen to display both open and closed sections for the semester.
-The course registration number (CRN) of each section is the highlighted five-digit number. After checking the box to the left of a CRN, you will have the option to either add that course to your worksheet by clicking the "Add to Worksheet" button or to register immediately for that course by clicking the "Register" button (Please note that adding courses to your worksheet does not register you for courses). Sections that are closed will have a "C" where the checkbox to select the course would normally be. Repeat this process until you have added all sections for which you would like to register.
Step 5 - If there is no problem with the course sections you have selected, the page will now show your "Current Schedule." Review this schedule to make sure you are registered for all of the classes you selected, AND if any of the "Credits" for your registered courses are highlighted in a different color, you may click on that number to make adjustments. This means you have registered for a variable unit course and you need to enter the correct number of units you want to take. It will appear in a box under the course. If it is correct as is, click "Submit Changes." If it is not, enter the correct number in the box and click "Submit Changes."
- Your web registration will not be successful and a message will appear for one or more sections if:
- there is a time conflict between sections you have requested
- you have not satisfied a prerequisite or co-requisite
- special permissions are required to take the section you have requested
- special restrictions on the population of students who may enroll are in effect
- If your web registration for a specific course is not successful and you would still like to register for the section, contact the appropriate department.
Step 6 - Pay tuition and fees by the deadline published
in the USF Registration Calendar.
Tips for Successful Web Registration
- Review the Available Course Sections in USFconnect before logging on to
register.
- Keep time conflicts and course prerequisites in mind when selecting your
classes.
- If a course has a co-requisite (i.e. a lab), enter the call numbers for
both the course and the co-requisite at the same time.
- Once you log on to Student Services, try to move from page to page and
submit your course adds and drops without delay. For security reasons, if
you are logged on to USFconnect for even a brief period of time without performing
any action, your login will expire. If your login expires, click on "Click
here to begin a new session" to return to the USFconnect home page.

Payment of Tuition and Fees
Payment is due for tuition, fees, and room and board charges at the time of
regular registration or as billed, if registration occurs before April 18, 2008. Checks, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are accepted
at http://onestop.usfca.edu.
Cash payments may be made in person only at the University Cashier in the Business
and Finance Office, Lone Mountain North, 3rd Floor. Payments may be extended
over a four-month period (May 1, 2008, through August 1, 2008). To sign up for the
4-Month Payment Plan, enroll online at http://onestop.usfca.edu
and remit the first payment plus the $50.00 enrollment fee by May 1, 2008. Payments
are due the first day of each month. For payments received on or after the 5th calendar
day of each month, a $25.00 late fee will be charged.
Summer class registration may be cancelled for any student who has an outstanding
balance from a prior semester (i.e., Spring 2008). Students whose payment was
returned unpaid for any reason will be asssessed additional fees for registration,
returned payment fee, and/or deferment of payment. Payment of a returned item
must be made in guaranteed funds (money order or cashier's check). Credit cards
are not accepted in payment of a returned item or associated fees.

Refund Policy
A refund of tuition will depend upon the date of acceptance by the One Stop
Enrollment and Financial Services Office of the signed Registration Add/Drop
form. Students who drop a class on or before the refund deadline for the session
for which they are registered are eligible for a full tuition refund; no refunds
will be made to students who withdraw from a class after the refund deadline,
or after the first day of workshops.
Withdrawal/Leave of Absence from University
Students planning to withdraw from the University are encouraged to make an
appointment with their dean's office or adviser prior to initiating withdrawal
procedures. A Petition to Withdraw form is available in the One Stop Enrollment
and Financial Services Office, Lone Mountain 251, and online at:
http://www.usfca.edu/acadserv/registrar/forms/index.html
The withdrawal becomes final only when a completed form or a notice of intent
to withdraw has been filed with the University. Students who simply absent themselves
from class without providing appropriate notice of intent to withdraw will have
failing grade(s) posted to their record. Withdrawal from the University must
occur on or before the last day to withdraw from classes for any semester. For
the summer term, a withdrawal applies only to those programs that require a
summer enrollment.
College of Professional Studies students should see the
CPS website at www.cps.usfca.edu regarding CPS Leave
of Absence and Withdrawal policies.
Cancelled Classes
Classes are cancelled at the discretion of the dean/director of the college
or school in which the courses are offered. A student will be dropped automatically
from a cancelled class. If class cancellation results in a credit balance the
student must request a refund at the One Stop Enrollment and Financial Services
Office.
Closed Classes
Classes are closed according to the limits set by the colleges
and schools. There are physical limitations on
class sizes (e.g. capacity of the classroom, number of
lab seats, number of books ordered).
You may petition to enter a closed class by completing a
Registration/Add/Drop Form. You must obtain the signatures
of the instructor teaching the course, your adviser,
and the Dean of the School/College in which the course is offered. Use a separate Registration/Add/Drop Form
for this action since the form may need to remain with
the Dean for a signature. Petitions to enter a closed class
will be accepted beginning the first day of classes for
the semester.

Grades
Pass/Fail/Audit
Students, excluding CPS students, are limited to one pass/fail course per semester.
The deadline for submitting any changes to or from pass/fail or Audit option without approval
signatures is Wednesday, May 21, 2008, for Sessions I and II, and Wednesday,
June 2, 2008, for Session III. A student exercising the option or changing the
option after this date must have the approval and signature of his/her dean.
Required courses may not be taken as pass/fail. Students must have an overall
2.00 GPA and may not be a first semester freshman to exercise this option. To
exercise this option enter "PF" for pass/fail or "AU" for
Audit on your Registration/Add/Drop Form in the column labeled "Grade Option."
Incomplete Grades
An incomplete "I" grade or not recorded "NR" not removed
by the end of the next semester will be converted automatically into a failing "F" grade. It is the student's responsibility to complete course work in
a timely manner.
Excess Units
Concurrent registration for summer sessions is limited to a certain number of semester units. Please see your academic dean to determine the specific number of hours your degree and school/college allow. Visiting students
wishing to register concurrently for more than eight units must see the Associate Director for Special Admissions (415-422-2464).

(click "Student," under "Banner Self Service" click on "Click here," then click
on "Student Records" and click on "Academic Transcript").
Because grades are available online, grade reports are not mailed to students

the vast majority of the grades are recorded. This takes approximately one month
after final exams.
