The Chinese Rites Controversy, Its History and Meaning
Edited by D.E. Mungello

This book contains twelve essays and three commentaries presented at the international symposium on the Chinese Rites Controversy held at the Ricci Institute, University of San Francisco in 1992. The essays explore from different perspectives the historical event that took place, the "Chinese Rites Controversy" in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, which in many ways still affects the relationship between China and the West today.
