Publications in Progress

The Ricci Institute regularly produces publications on Chinese-Western cultural history.
  • Ricci Institute editions of the Pacific Rim Reports
Certain issues of the Pacific Rim Reports are entirely devoted to articles by Ricci Institute schlars on Chinese-Western cultural history. A complete list of the Pacific Rim Reports is available.

  • Encounters and Dialogues: Changing Perspectives on Chinese-Western Exchanges from the Sixteenth to Eighteenth Centuries (forthcoming by Monumenta Serica, St. Augustin, Germany)
This book includes seventeen papers presented at an international symposium in Beijing in 2001 commemorating the 400th anniversary of Matteo Ricci’s arrival in Beijing. Those papers provide new perspectives on Chinese-Western exchanges in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.

  • Second edition of Christianity in China: A Scholars’ Guide to Resources in the Libraries and Archives in the United States (forthcoming by M.E. Sharpe, Inc. New York)
Following the model of the first edition (1989), this revised edition offers updated information on resources in the libraries and archives in the United States.

  • Complete Works of Matteo Ricci (Chinese Language Edition) (forthcoming by Commercial Press, Beijing, China)
This joint publication project is co-sponsored by the Ricci Institute and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In addition to the works in Chinese by Matteo Ricci, a new translation of his letters and of Histoire de l'expédition chrétienne au royaume de la Chine will be also included.
