of Rev. Edward J. Malatesta, S.J., founding director
of the Ricci Institute, in honor of his contributions
to Chinese-Western cultural exchange. The scholarship
provides qualified candidates financial assistance
to further their research and professional training
in history, theology, art, and cross-cultural studies.
Publication

publications on language, art, history, religion,
biography, and conference proceedings relating to
the study of Chinese-Western cultural history and
Christianity in China. Languages for such publications
include English, Chinese, and French.
Chinese
Library Fund - Considered one of the best
resources of its kind, the Ricci Institute Library
contains over 80,000 items, focusing on the history
of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Holdings are principally
in Chinese, with related items on Christianity in
China in Portuguese, French, Italian, English, Japanese,
and Korean.
Ricci
Research Award - The Ricci Institute plans
to establish a research award to promote the study
of Christianity in China through publications. Special
attention will be given to research in theology, history,
art, science, and archival studies. Awards will be
given to scholars who publish papers in academic and
professional journals or for books. The criterion
for the award is outstanding and original research
work in the above subject areas.
