Types of Permits

Staff and Faculty Parking Permits:

USF Faculty and Staff members may obtain a parking permit from the Department of Public Safety. Permits are available approximate one month prior to the start of each semester. Permits may be purchased for Fall, Spring and Summer, Fall and Spring, or Fall only at the beginning of the academic year. Faculty and Staff with outstanding parking citations or that have received over six parking citations may not receive a parking permit.

Student Parking Permits:

USF Students may enter the Student Parking Lottery for Full-Time parking permits. Applications for the student lottery are available each year at the beginning of January. Applications must be turned in by the end of July. Winners are notified via US mail during the first week of August. (Deadline for 2008-2009 academic year is Friday, August 1,2008 at 4 pm). The lottery is for parking during the following academic year. Student living on campus or within a 3 mile radius from the university are not eligible to apply for the lottery. 175 permits (full-time and part-time) are allocated through this process to commuter students only. Students with outstanding parking citations or that have received over six parking citations may not receive a parking permit and will be withdrawn from the lottery.

Outside of the lottery, students may purchase one of the following permits: evening, disabled (if appropriate), or motorcycle. Daily permits are also available for purchase at the Main Campus or Lone Mountain Campus Visitor Gates/Information Booths. Students with outstanding parking citations or that have received over six parking citations may not receive a parking permit.

Complimentary and Temporary Permits:

Complimentary permits are available from either the Main Campus or Lone Mountain Campus Visitor Gates/Information Booths. Arrangements for complimentary permits must be made a minimum of one business day in advance by 4:00 pm. Requests must be e-mailed to parking@usfca.edu. The only persons eligible for complimentary permits are official guests of the university. All university faculty and staff are not allowed to receive complimentary permits.

Faculty, staff, and/or students, who are current USF parking permit holders, may request a temporary pass (issued for up to two weeks) if permitted vehicle is not available. Proper documentation is required.

Types of Permits:

• Full-Time- Full-Time parking permits are valid 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Part-Time- Part-Time parking permits are valid for a specified three days per week.
• Evening- Evening parking permits are valid from 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM in parking lots marked PAN #3.. Evening parking permits are valid from 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM in parking lots marked PAN #6, PAN #4, PAN #3. Evening permits are valid all day on weekends in parking lots designated with a PAN #6, PAN #4, PAN #3. They are not valid in parking lots designated as PAN #5.
• Three Person Carpool- Full-Time Faculty and Staff are eligible for Carpool permits. The three members must be from the same city.
• Two Person Carpool- Full-Time Faculty and Staff are eligible for Carpool permits. The two members must be from the same city.
• Disabled- The University issued PAN #D permits to those identified by needing special parking due to a medical necessity. This must be documented through the possession of a DMV and Human Resources or Student Disability issued paperwork
• Motorcycle- Motorcycle parking permits are valid 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in motorcycle designated areas only.
• Daily- Daily parking permits are available for purchase on a space available basis only. These permits are valid only in the Loyola Lot, Hayes-Healy parking garages, and Koret parking structure. These permits must be purchased from the Lone Mountain gate or Main Gate.
