Rev. Stephen A. Privett, S.J., the 27th President of University of San Francisco, has led the University since 2000.

On September 30, 2013, Father Privett announced he will step down as president once a successor has been named and the presidential transition completed.  Read his letter to the USF Community here

An accomplished Catholic scholar and theologian and a gifted public speaker, Father Privett is active in local and national organizations such as the San Francisco-based Commonwealth Club of California and the Washington-based American Council on Education and Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities

Upon his arrival in 2000, Father Privett led the University in developing the Vision, Mission and Values Statement. Under his leadership, the University has recently developed USF 2028, a planning document designed to strategically guide the University through the next two decades. The plan builds on USF’s rich Jesuit Catholic tradition, cultural diversity, academic excellence and incorporates a responsible, global perspective into all USF programs.
