| Course Objectives: |
| To introduce the student to
familiarize the student with the principal ethical theories and to address the central
disputes amongst the different ethical theories; to apply these distinct ethical theories
to ethical concerns specific to the health sciences and the practice of health care; e.g.,
abortion, physician-assisted suicide, the delivery of health care, and laboratory
reproduction,etc. |
| Grading: |
| The final course grade will be
based on a midterm test (3 essays) and a final examination (3 essays); the midterm will
count for 1/3 of the grade and the final examination for 2/3. The midterm test and final
examination must be written in a bluebook; otherwise it will be treated as a failure to
take the test or examination. THE STUDENT MUST TAKE THE MIDTERM TEST AND FINAL EXAMINATION
ON THE DATE, TIME, AND AT THE PLACE ASSIGNED FOR THE CLASS. NO MAKE-UP EXAMINATIONS WILL
BE GIVEN EXCEPT IN CASES OF A PHYSICIANS WRITTEN STATEMENT OF THE STUDENTS
INCAPACITY TO TAKE THE TEST AND WHERE THE TEACHER JUDGES THAT THE STUDENTS
CIRCUMSTANCES JUSTIFY A MAKE-UP. |
