| Foreign Language Placement Test |
If you are beginning to study a new foreign language, you do not need to take this test.
If you are seeking exemption from the language requirement, you may take these tests. If you score high enough on the test place out of the requirement, you must contact the department office to set up an interview with an instructor in order to confirm your proficiency.
French, Chinese German, Japanese, and Spanish tests are available online. Latin, Italian, Russian and Tagalog must be taken on-campus (Japanese may be available online very soon). If you have not yet taken the test online you can take it on campus during Spring Orientation. The format of these tests vary. If you need to take both math or calculus as well as a foreign language test, then you should postpone taking the foreign language test. You can take the foreign language test online at home or during Spring Orientation. You do not have to take this test if you are beginning a new foreign language, or if you are bilingual and wish to apply for an exemption to the foreign language requirement. A foreign language is required of all Arts & Science as well as International Business majors.
