Move In Day

New Student Orientation
Move-in Day: Saturday, January 12 - Thursday, January 17, 2013

USF is excited to welcome all new students who will be moving onto campus! If you have specific questions about your residence hall or assignment, please contact Student Housing and Residential Education at (415) 422-6824.

First Things First

  • Submit your ID Photo to complete ID Express: ID Express is mandatory. You will need your card in order to move in to your residence hall room. Please complete ID Express , it’s quick and easy. Plus by participating in ID Express you're eligible to win $50 in Don Dollars! You must complete ID Express prior to arriving on campus for Saturday, August 18.
  • Review the What's in My Room List with the Student Housing and Residential Education.

Directions to USF

Please DO NOT utilize your GPS once in San Francisco, but follow the detailed directions below. If you should have any questions about directions, call the Move-in Day Hotline (TBA).

Once on campus you will be greeted by USF staff in Green shirts and signs that will direct you to your respective residence hall area and unloading zone. Please review the Move-In Day Map for residence hall locations and the traffic pattern.

Detailed Directions

Traveling South From the Golden Gate Bridge/North Bay

  • Cross the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Stay in the right lane and take the 19th Avenue exit and follow for 1.7 miles
  • Turn RIGHT on Anza Street
  • Immediately turn RIGHT onto 14th Avenue
  • Turn RIGHT onto Geary Street and travel 1.4 miles
  • Turn RIGHT on Masonic Avenue and travel 0.5 miles

For Main Campus: Fromm, Gillson, Hayes-Healy, and Phelan Halls:

  • Turn RIGHT on Fulton Street, staying in the right lane and continue 4 blocks
  • Turn RIGHT on Parker Avenue and follow posted directions to your hall assignment

For Loyola Village and Lone Mountain Residents:

  • Turn Right on Turk Street, stay in right lane and continue 7 blocks
  • Turn RIGHT on Parker Avenue and follow posted directions to your hall assignment

Traveling West From the Bay Bridge/East Bay

  • After crossing the Bay Bridge, travel approximately 2 miles
  • Take the “101 North, Golden Gate Bridge” exit to the Fell/Octavia Streets exit (434B)
  • Proceed straight 5 signals
  • Turn LEFT onto Fell Street, traveling approximately 1 mile
  • Turn RIGHT on Masonic and travel 3 blocks

For Main Campus: Fromm, Gillson, Hayes-Healy, and Phelan Halls:

  • Turn LEFT on Fulton Street, staying in the right lane and continue 4 blocks
  • Turn RIGHT onto Parker Avenue and follow posted directions to your hall assignment

For Loyola Village and Lone Mountain Residents:

  • Turn LEFT on Turk Street, stay in right lane and continue 7 blocks
  • Turn RIGHT on Parker Avenue and follow posted directions to your hall assignment

Traveling North on 280 from the Peninsula/South Bay

  • Take Highway 280 Northbound
  • Take the 19th Avenue exit and stay in the LEFT lanes
  • Stay on 19th Avenue for approximately three miles
  • Turn RIGHT onto Lincoln Street, travel about 1 mile
  • Stay LEFT on Kezar Drive
  • Stay RIGHT on Oak Street, staying in the left lane
  • Turn LEFT on Masonic Avenue and travel 4 blocks

For Main Campus: Fromm, Gillson, Hayes-Healy, and Phelan Halls:

  • Turn LEFT on Fulton Street, staying in the right lane and continue 4 blocks
  • Turn RIGHT onto Parker Avenue and follow posted directions to your hall assignment

Traveling North on 101 From the Peninsula/San Jose/South Bay

  • Once in San Francisco, stay in the LEFT lane and follow “101 North, Golden Gate Bridge”

When You Arrive to Campus

  • Check-in to your Residence Hall: look for signs to your residence hall. You must have completed ID Express prior to checking-in.
  • Settle into your Residence Hall Room and Meet your Roommates, Floormates, and Resident Advisor
  • Meet GO Team, student orientation leaders, at Info Booth and find our more information about orientation if you have questions.
  • Grab lunch at the Market Cafe, our on-campus dining facilityDownload your own personal USF Orientation Smart Phone App! (one download per family; limited downloads available) If you have a Smart Phone, you can download the free "Guidebook" App from the App store.
